Hard top bimini, new pictures

I didn't like the original plan of hard top, so I have been actually making modifications into this. I have manufactured plugs for 3rd and 4th pillar. Now it was good time to update this into pictures. Also main pillar front corners needs to be widened, but that can be done later. Colour will be white, not blue as originally planned.

Nyt se on valmis! Aikaa meni 1,5 kuukautta, lähinnä arki-iltaisin tehden.

The mold for hard top bimini is now ready. It took one and half months. Now the mold will be transported for storaging, and roof will be laminated next year.

End of the season

Winter is coming, so... end of the boating season 2014. Summer was hot and winds were calm. About 390 nautical miles.

Hard top bimini mold was not very rigid since the plywood thickness was only 4mm, so the mold was turned upside down and bottom side was reinforced with 450g fiberglass and polyester resin. You may start seeing the three dimensional shape of the roof from these pictures.

Pohjamaalausta ja paklausta

Katon muotin pohjamaalina on tässä Hempelin Primer Undercoat, ja pakkelina Motonetistä ostetua Paklaa. Takaosan saumakohtien "kuopissa" (kuvassa lähimpänä) käytetty myös lasikuituvahvisteista Paklaa. Muottivaneeri on taivutettu etuosassa loivasti ja takaosassa jyrkemmin myös pitkittäissuunnassa. Tämä ei ehkä kunnolla näy kuvassa, mutta etureuna on 5cm korkeammalla ja takreuna 10cm korkeammalla kuin muotin keskikohta. Tästä syystä takaosan vaneeri taipui kolmelle kuopalle saumojen kohdalle. Työtä on ollut monena iltana: hiomista ja paklaamista.

Seuraava vaihe on rakentaa päätyihin muotoillut kynnykset, jota vasten katon etu- ja takareunat tehdään.
